MY LOVELY NANA CATHY DIED 5/3/2004 SHE WAS ONLY 65, MY NAN WAS AN AMAZING PERSON WHO WOULD GO OUT HER WAY TO HELP ANYONE. MY NAN HAD A BRAIN TUMOUR WHICH TOOK HER LIFE ONLY 5 MONTHS AFTER BEING DIAGNOSED, THAT WAS THE WORST 5 MONTHS OF MY LIFE, NOT JUST FOR ME BUT FOR ALL THE FAMILY. OUR NIGHTMARE BEGAN IN OCTOBER 03 WHEN NAN WASNT FEELING TO WELL AND HAD A LITTLE FALL, WE TOOK HER TO THE HOSPITAL AND THEY SAID SHE HAD A WATER INFECTION. THAT SAME NIGHT I GOT A PHONE CALL FROM HER FRIEND TO SAY NAN WASNT FEELING TO GOOD AGAIN AS I ONLY LIVED A FEW DOORS ALONG I WENT. WHEN I WALKED IN NAN WAS COMPLAING OF HER HEAD HURTING SO I GAVE HER SOME PAIN KILLERS AND MADE HER A HOT DRINK THEN I SETTLED HER INTO BED, ONCE SHE WAS ASLEEP AND KNEW SHE WAS OK I LEFT TO GO HOME. NEXT MORNING I GOT A PHONE CALL FROM MY DAD TO SAY HE COULDNT GET ACCESS TO NANS BUT HAD RANG HER AND SHE TOLD HIM SHE HAD FALLEN. WE FINALLY GOT IN AND TOOK HER BK TO HOSPITAL, THEY TRYED ONCE AGAIN TO SEND HER HOME AS THEY KEPT SAYING IT WAS A WATER INFECTION UNTILL MY DAD HAD A FEW WORDS WITH THE DOCTOR AND THE HOSPITAL DECIDED TO PUT MY NAN INTO REHAB FOR A WHILE UNTILL SHE GOT A LITTLE BETTER. THERE NAN GOT A LITTLE WORSE AND WHEN THE DOCTOR CAME TO SEE HER HE WANTED HER STRAIGHT INTO HOSPITAL AS HER RIGHT SIDE WASNT WORKING PROPERLY AND HE THOUGHT SHE HAD HAD A MINI STROKE OR BLEEDING ON THE BRAIN..
FINALLY GOT HER INTO HOSPITAL WHERE THEY DONE ALL THE TESTS AND FOUND A GROWTH ON HER BRAIN AND NEEDED TO OPERATE, AFTER DOING THIS THEY SENT IT AWAY AND THEN TOLD US IT WAS SECONDARY WHICH WAS A MASSIVE BLOW, AFTER MORE TESTS THEY FOUND MY NAN HAD IT IN HER LUNGS AND THROAT AND GAVE HER 6 MONTHS.
NAN WAS SO BRAVE THROUGH ALL THIS AND ALWAYS HAD A SMILE ON HER FACE. NAN HAD LIVED ON HER OWN FOR QUITE A WHILE BUT MOVED IN WITH HER BROTHER BILLY AND SISTER IN LAW KATH WHO DONE A GREAT JOB IN LOOKING AFTER HER. WE HAD A WONDERFUL XMAS WITH HER AND BILLY AND KATH ORGANISED A BIG PARTY FOR HER 65TH.
NAN DONE REALLY WELL AND WAS HER NORMAL SELF UNTILL THE END OF FEBUARY WHERE SHE STARTED TO DETERIORATE AND WITHIN A WEEK SHE WAS BED RIDDEN, WE USED TO PUT HER MUSIC ON AND HER EYES USED TO ROLL AND HOLD OUR HAND TIGHT.. ME AND MY SISTER USED TO GO TO SEE HER EVERY MORNING WHEN I DROPPED MY KIDS AT SCHOOL THEN LEAVE AT 3 TOOK PICK MY KIDS UP. THEN ON 5TH MARCH I LEFT NAN AT 3 TO GO GET MY KIDS AND I GOT THE PHONE CALL A COUPLE HOURS LATER TO SAY NAN HAD PASSED AWAY :( WE WERE DEVASTED BUT KNEW SHE WAS FREE FROM THE HORRIBLE DISEASE..X
NAN LOVED CATHERINE COOKSON, SHE HAD EVERY BOOK AND VIDEO, U COULD GUARANTEE WHEN YOU WENT IN TO HER HOUSE SHE WOULD HAVE A VIDEO ON OR BE READING A BOOK.. SHE MUST OF READ THEM BOOKS OVER 100 TIMES HA, NAN ALSO LIKED HER MUSIC PATSY CLINE, DANIEL ODONNELL ECT, SHE ALSO GOT THE TASTE FOR MOZART ASWELL WHICH I USED TO TURN OFF WHEN I WENT IN.. NAN WAS ALSO AN ANIMAL LOVER ASWELL, SHE HAD HAD SOME ANIMALS OVER THE YRS..

Little did we know that morning
God was going to call your name.

cant believe its been 7 yrs nan that u left us to go with the angels, hope your havin fun up there, not a day goes by i dont think ov you or spk you name.. love nd miss u forever, send all your strength down for dad as hes need it right now, with him goin through this horrible disease..... wish i cud just hear your voice or see u once more nan, miss our chat nd kno u wud be able to put things right xxxxxx

Well Kath 71 today - six years since you went to have a glass of cider with the big guy. Six years and i think about you every day still and will think about you till the time comes when you can tell me how to go on up there - unless of course i go down instead of up (put a word in for me please ) Love and miss you kath have a good knees up with the angels for your birthday and i will have a drink down here with you.
